capel-y-ton has stood proud high above the road in high street for over 200 years, sadly in the early hours of saturday october 20th 2007 it was destroyed in a huge fire, an arson attack that ended so many years of history... destroying one of only four buildings in tonyrefail that had enough historical importance to be grade 2 listed by cadwr I received a phone call from a friend of the web site at 9am on the morning of the fire to inform me of it, I went straight up with my camera to record what was happening. what I found amazed me, this once beautiful and majestic building, a place of comfort for so many people through the years was gone, all I saw before me that morning where smouldering ruins.. normally I enjoy the process of taking and sharing my photographs, this was different there was no enjoyment in what I did that morningsince the fire, I have been given some photos taken during the fire which i’ve added below, i’ve also been back up there in may 2008 and june 2010 and taken some photos of the inside of the church which are at the bottom of this page.
