Society constitution 1. - TITLE The name of the organisation shall be Tonyrefail History & Folklore Society. Hereinafter called “The Society” 2. - OBJECTS:
The main objects of the “Society” shall be to promote the advancement of education by developing public interest in all aspects of local history.
In furtherance of the above objects (but not otherwise) the Society is empowered to:
The Society is established to promote the advancement of education of the public by the study of history, folklore and traditions and local both ecclesiastical and secular, to collect and distribute information on all aspects of the history of Tonyrefail in particular and of South Wales in general. To be open to all without distinction of age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnic identity, disability, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and the public in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation. In pursuance of these aims it is the intention of the Society to continue to make a positive contribution to interdenominational understanding and to mutual appreciation and knowledge of the different historical traditions.
(a) Undertake original research into aspects of Tonyrefail’s history, Folklore and Traditions; (b) Make available to the public the results of such research; (c) Undertake the organisation of displays of local history, folklore and tradition material; (d) Provide comment and give advice, when required, on matters appertaining to the history, folklore and traditions of Tonyrefail (e) Invite guest speakers to address members of the Society on subjects of an historical nature; (f) Organise visits to places of local and general historical interest. (g) to encourage the study of History Folklore and Traditions to the community; (h) to assist educationally by lectures or otherwise in record research, Demonstrations, exhibits and Productions (i)Obtain collect and receive money by way of grants, donations, bequests, and legacies or other lawful method, (j)Do all such lawful things as may be necessary for the attainment of the above objects or any of them 3. - MEMBERSHIP (a) Membership will be available to any individual who supports the objects of the club. (b) Members are bound by the rules of the constitution (c) Membership fees must be paid by date stipulated by the AGM. The amount of the fee will also be decided at the AGM 4. - OFFICERS OF THE CLUB The officers of the club shall be: The Chairman; Vice Chairman; Secretary; Treasurer and, all of whom shall be elected at the AGM. 5. - CLUB PRESIDENT The Club shall have an Honorary President who shall be appointed by the Management Committee 6. - MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (a) The Management Committee of the club shall consist of the officers . (b) The Management Committee shall be responsible for the organisation and the running of the club between Annual General Meetings. This shall include all issues concerning membership, discipline and complaints or grievances. (c) The Management Committee shall meet as and when required to consider all aspects of Club business. (d) A quorum of the Management Committee shall be 4 members of that Committee. In the event of any officer resigning between AGMs, the Management Committee may co opt a member to fill that post. 7. - ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (a) The Annual General Meeting shall be held not later than the end of January in any year. (b) All full members are entitled to attend and vote. (c) The officers of the Club will be elected at the AGM in the following order:-Chairman, V. Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Fixture Secretary (d) All members shall be informed in writing of the date and agenda of the AGM (e) The agenda shall include minutes of the previous AGM, reports from officers, presentation of Club accounts, election of officers, setting of membership fees and any other business. (f) The AGM shall consider any motion put before it, once that motion has been proposed and seconded by two full members. 8. - AMENDMENTS OR ADDITIONS TO THE CONST I TUTION (a) The above rules can only be amended or added to at an AGM. (b) The Management Committee may approve a temporary amendment to the constitution during the season. Such an amendment may then be confirmed or rejected at the following AGM. 9. - DISSOLUTION OF THE CLUB (a) The Club may only be dissolved at an AGM (b) In the event of the dissolution of the Club, all remaining assets shall be divided equally amongst the current full members unless the AGM decides otherwise
